just saw episode 12 of the anime, which ends the first series of story arcs from the novel/manga. i haven't read the novel, but i'm familiar with the manga and the tone of the anime is far more family-friendly with all of the sexual innuendo cut out and sensual designs toned down...

Yao's design is less overt than in the manga, which was part dominatrix...
